In our many trips in authentic America and Canada - and by authentic I mean places like Cody, Wyoming where everyone seems to be a cowboy for real - I always wanted to bring back a pair of local western boots. Unfortunately the crazy itineraries never allowed for it.
This year however western boots are in fashion, so I've been looking for a brand that would make the real thing.
I liked the Frye styles, but they are made in Mexico. No offense, but if I am going to wear a part of the American legend (and be mocked by my French compatriots), it has to be made here.
And then I found this video showing how the Lucchese are made. It's a bit long, but it is just incredible to watch. Up to 250 pairs of hands touch these boots during a 15 day manufacturing process. Owing these boots is really like owning a piece of America.
So here you go. Old world meets new world: they are available on Zappos and should be at my doorstep over the week end. Hope they fit!
I live in Colorado and I wear Ariat boots. They seem to be easier on the feet since I walk mostly on paved surfaces. Some cowboy boots are better suited to walking on grass . . .
